Standing Still
For the first time in months, she was happy; truly happy. She didn't have to fake any smiles or scratch her brain in order to carry on a conversation. It came naturally again. All was well.
But then it hit her; all at once.
It was like a twister; destroying everything in its path. She tried to hold it back, but it swallowed her. Taking her back to the dark thoughts she tried so hard to escape. I guess you just can't out run some things.
Then she finally decided, it was time to end this war.
So she wrote her note for the first time in months, and dug out that little black pistol she kept hidden from sight. Sitting in her rocking chair, she listened to her favorite song one last time. As the last beat of the song came, and silence was about to over take the room, there was a loud BANG! Then all was still; not a thing moved, not even time.
