Stand Here
I stand here
A chickadee at my feet
With the dogs content to sniff about
I stand here and I wait
One by one more of them come out
They flit about me in the leaf litter
Trapeze around me in the trees
Soon different silhouettes appear
Shy little fellows following
The chickadees' ease
First a warbler
A flycatcher
Then the rush of a thrush
A majestic moment crowned
By a Kinglet's royal blush
If you stand here
A little bird will tell you
Beauty needs an audience
Hark! It beckons
