Stalker

In a quiet pristine valley enclosing Harold’s Creek, I walk the tracks in forest shade where the flora is unique. Upon these tracks worn down through time, my feet move stealthily. I cannot believe I see this prize grazing ahead of me! There stands graceful beauty, and I must be down wind, for feeding goes on unconcerned while I become positioned. Slowly lifting to take aim my trigger finger bends. The gentle deer is in my sights… I shoot with my camera lens.

Camera shooting gets thee no meat for hearth and home. Yet many celebrate such shooting because in the world today, we eat domesticated animals. Great poem and love the ending!

True what you say Robert... if people shoot for meat I'm fine about it, but not so trophy and lust. Thank you for your comment Robert - Lindsay

G'day Broken Wings... that's good, and anyway, if it was a gun the deer was still safe. I couldn't shoot it. It was a pleasure to read your first attempt at a trimetet Broken Wings - Lindsay

Thank you Shadow... I prefer to put a hook line in humorous poems, but with the response; camera v gun, the twist appears to have worked in this nature poem - Lindsay

So I gotcha Andrea... haha. I have trouble hurting a fly, so a deer is as safe as a church. Thanks once again Andrea - Lindsay

Your word choices are clever, descriptive, and imaginative. The descriptive wording and the great imagery brought it all to life. Emile.

Hello John... you won't catch me shooting anything with a gun John. To see a deer in the bush is the high I need. One time in the Grampians we were cooking lunch and a Red Deer stepped out of some ti-tree scrub and joined us... amazing it was - Lindsay

G'day Kim... thanks again for your support Kim. As far as I'm concerned, a camera provides a win-win for everything concerned... a gun doesn't - catch you soon Kim - Lindsay
