St. Patrick was credited with bringing Christianity and monasticism to Ireland, forming over 300 churches, and baptizing over 100,000 Irish people. The shamrock is said to have been used by St. Patrick to explain the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to the Irish people. Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century. Kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave, he later escaped and returned to Britain. He became a priest and eventually returned to Ireland as a missionary, dedicating his life to spreading Christianity. I’m assuming Lochmaddy—It rhymes!

Today we give cheers to St. Paddy Taken from the sea lake, Lochmaddy He holds close a shamrock Trinity clover keychain schlock Never cotton to a baddy, a saintly laddy

Some say that he liked baths with bubbles/ But how would he feel 'bout "The Troubles"/ Oh that poor soapy bloke/ All his good Christian folk/ Trashed Ireland and left it in rubbles/

Really? Snakes too shooed. Irland was almost completely Catholic but now its fallen to about 40% Catholic after the priest sex scandals came to light! Very dramatic.

Dear Anaya, Okay, you gave me a good chuckle and a warm sense of nostalgia just like a pint lifted in good company, the kind that makes the heart a little lighter. Such a playful tribute to St. Paddy with such charm, a wink of mischief tucked between the lines. The way you paint him as a tough lad with a priestly calling, standing firm against the serpents is just brilliant. But beyond the clever rhymes and rhythm, there's a sincerity here with a little faith and resilance. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Happy St Paddy's Day, Daniel! Ty for sharing in the fun. I try my best to share some folklore as well as dab in a little limerick fun. Glad you enjoyed my limerick, but it's Robert's add-on that's the laughter (the real Limerick maven). Always a little faith to be shared isn't there. xhugs
