Part of me says go one way part of me says go the other way a bitter battle inside Do you really think that the road is easy to travel? No matter what they say it's a rough journey filled with pitfalls and distractions a kiss at night and off to dreamland the edifice of darkness soon crumbles and you're back in the spotlight under a bright sun You'll need luck, good companions and also perhaps a taste of the divine

Nice take on the constant battle we all fight: the battle within the self. "the edifice of darkness / soon / crumbles / and you're / back in the spotlight." That's good writing. Thanks for the insight on my Haiku "Summer Grind".

I like the shape of this, reminds me of the bumpy road you talk about. It's really when you get that taste of the divine that you get a better sense of where this road leads. to say it's a rough journey is putting it very very mildly in my book. If you didn't know where it leads it would be impossible to travel... ps, my time poem you commented isn't fictional at all but it also didn't happen to me but to this guy who wrote a book about it, his name's Gary Renard. I was just paraphrasing him.

The pitfalls await sometimes regardless of what direction we choose. Making choices has always been hard for me and you vividly describe exactly why that is. I, too, am searching for "a taste of the divine" to carry me on my journey. Obviously, I could really relate to your excellent poem, Matthew. Riviting! Love, Carolyn

Matthew, This is an awesome poem -splendid. Good use of metaphors. Life indeed is a rough journey. One needs divine help to avoid the pitfalls and distractions -swaying of this way and that. An amazing write. Thanks for your comments on my Haiko Buried Hearts. Umar Khayam is famous for his Rubai'yat. I have translated in English Rubai'yat of an eminent poet from Indo Pakistan subcontinent called Josh Malihabadi. My book is titled Rubai'yat of Josh Malihabadi -A Drop and the Ocean. -Mohammad

aww a great poem, the enemy tries to trap us at every turn it is a hard walk but its worth it, we just like cars in a way every so often we need an MOT, Moment Of Truth, God shows us what needs to change to keep us going he recharges us up, repairs any damage to us and sets us back out on the journey so cool, God will knock those obstacles out of the way, just like cars we need regular check points with God to be sure we where he wants us to be, anyway a beautiful powrful write, God bless you
