Speechless Part 1
As scented air aroused my misty mind,
her shadow broke the early morning sun.
Aromas wafting from the morning grind
seduced a thought that she may be the one.
I sensed her very essence from afar,
unnerved, I sought the comfort in my joe.
She emulated every morning star
with beauty I could only hope to know.
She passed in nonchalance and without glance.
As I would gape, she only stared astray.
Her exit, with a whim and full of prance,
so arrogant it whisked my breath away.
As fragments of her essence ebbed and waned,
illusions twisted aimlessly in vain.
*
Illusions twisted aimlessly in vain.
Her image kept returning o’er again
for nothing held her vision in refrain.
Such beauty pressed my passions to ascend.
I contemplated following her light
but in my daze she quickly slipped away.
And as I sat, I thought, though ever slight,
that I may see her pass again someday.
I finalized my mundane morning rite
and pondered how the remnants would unfold.
I knew that she was once the morning’s light
and wished once more her light I could behold.
I know for certain it was by design,
within this haze appeared a light divine.
*
Within this haze appeared a light divine
one gentle morn when sunlight filled this space.
Though dreams of her still dance and intertwine
the sky fell gray once light had left this place.
I wait each day, but each day comes and goes.
My mud grows stale and bitter from the toll.
Baristas tend but know not to impose.
This search, in vain, weighs heavy on my soul.
Though hope ne’er fades, today may be the day
she finds this empty chair to occupy.
While pondering exactly what I’ll say,
I’ll lie in wait for every passer-by.
This day now spent, I’ve watched another wane
though in my world of dreams it seems insane.
*
Though in my world of dreams it seems insane
to bar the thoughts that venture through my head.
As anguish lingers, captive to my pain,
this torment shall surrender when I’m dead.
With thoughts conflicted, ne‘er a tick goes by
that fails to hold her scent and reverie.
Her image faint, though I shall not deny
that I’ve allowed her ghost to capture me.
These unrelenting thoughts may never cease.
Obsession burns, I seek an interlude.
I’ve made my choice, for I shall ne’er find peace
and will not lie incessantly and brood.
I’ll seek no more but bide the circumstance
a single gaze of fate may yield to chance.
*
A single gaze of fate may yield to chance
that I might find her in the morning’s light.
'Twas such a day as this, by happenstance,
she ambled through this shop to my delight.
I’ve spent too many hours on this perch
in want of something never to appear.
But now I know, I must give up this search
for I have not the means to persevere.
Farewell café, I’ll ne’er pass you again.
Each day remembered, ever I’ll hold true.
The day remembered dearest my old friend,
will be when morning’s light came passing through.
A soul obsessed shall never be set free,
the heart may fall in love unwillfully.
