Sparkled Memories

Resplendent in her deferential grace; Her countenance now wears the strains of time. I’m hungry to receive her soft embrace. She fills me with her warmth - comfort sublime. Her welcome hearth brings solace to my mind. A child, I was all dirty knees and grime. Sweet laughter, songs, and merriment combined. My heart has ached to breathe her rich perfumes; reminding me of youth I left behind. Dark echoes now within the lifeless rooms where shadows dance like ghosts across the floor and sparkled memories are bathed in gloom. Now standing at the threshold of her door, I slowly turn for one last look in case I never look into these halls once more. I’m stricken by the life I can’t replace. Resplendent in her deferential grace.

The title is perfect, Rachel, and your rhyming too. I am a fan of terzanelle and I composed many in italian and in english too, translating Dante's Hell. This poem is very nice to read and your memories are really enthralling

Rachel. It was so nice to see a terza rima. I have only written two and I enjoy reviewing that form by seeing fine work like you did here. Thanks again for the win in your contest. It was a very sweet surprise.
