Sour Grapes
Is someone ever too old
to smell the rose
or heartened by the
winsome smile of a lass?
Could a faint heart ever dare
to profess its fondness for
one sprightly damsel of a kind?
Can a thoroughbred horse
put out to pasture
gets back on the racetrack
Or an arid farmland revives
moistened by the morning dew?
My time-ravaged body maybe
feeble and frail
But the spirit is yet
willing and strong,
All it needs is a tease, a nudge
and a wink to rekindle the fire,
like the phoenix rising from the ashes.
