Marooned on the island of loneliness Shadows of delusion confront me In a stormy sea, I got shipwrecked And the sea has robbed everything from me What unanticipated change comes over When people let you down What a shocking realization it is To know that there is nobody around to care. On coming face to face, will anyone acknowledge me Or will a happy smile light upon any face? I am now a drying brook That once has been a river in spate A deflated balloon unable to soar high A blind bird that cannot see a dawn Nor sing a song to wake the sleeping world My scars are like deep cuts On an ill-maintained tarmac road I sleep in endless weariness, And grope among dark spaces I vacantly look into the far horizon When the broken shards of moonlight Paint pictures of dark demons around me Like a bird that with nightfall Returns to a tree to call out its solitude to the stars I sit here alone, Alone, alone, Not knowing to whom I shall call out! Will the stars keep me company? Tomorrow, should I go into exile or wake up With the hope that my pain will go into remission And my soul’s cry will be heard by some attentive ears! Or will my frozen inside thaw by itself in time?

True to the title, Soul's Cry, Valsa. You have presented the most desperate of all cries, the cry of the soul from a place of the impossible. That place of deepest pain and suffering that a person's senses death or eternal pain and suffering. Even knowing it's for a contest, my soul wants to come to your rescue, to relieve your pain and bring to you hope of a better tomorrow. An excellent entry for the contest, my friend, good luck! Hugs, Bill

Soul's cry at the most expensive. The soul doesn't cry until all edges are closed and it can't breathe. I'm here to save you, dear Valsa, hahaha. I loved the metaphors and the questions. And I'll tell you, the pain might not go away tomorrow, but it would go away eventually.

your poem was soulful, and I found myself wanting to comfort you. Your poem was poignant and exquisitely written...the sea metaphor is effective. Your imagery, alliteration, etc., were like paint brush strokes across the page. I especially liked "now I am a dying brook' So powerful! Your execution and delivery are worthy of a fav. Have a great evening, hugs, Sara

This poignant piece dear Valsa is truly captivating. With unparalleled mastery, you adeptly delve into the worlds of darkness, crafting an impeccable narrative. The implementation of poetic devices, such as alliteration, similes, metaphors, and vivid imagery, adds an enchanting depth to the work. It is an exquisite composition, each line akin to a symphony resonating within the souls and intellects of its readers.

Wow! I guess we both think a lot alike, Valsa, though your poem is far far better than mine:) I also used the term "broken shards"...

??Acts 17:28 KJVAAE?? [28] for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. This verse reminds me of The Holy Spirit working within you to tell of this Love to be found, a poet you are of God

Alone, loneliness...some would say worst than death -- for at least in death, imagined a silence, a rest, a peace. Could be very wrong. Others will say, you and God are a majority of company. I am of the this belief. Well said, Valsa -- recalled I much pain and suffering in life. Good sometimes to go back, and reaffirm the progress in one's Soul Journey. Happy I am no longer in this totally dark place. Not easy but one can recreate one's self. Blessings.

I really love your use of poetic techniques and the emotions flowing throughout, brilliant alliterations similes metaphors and imagery. “ I am now a drying brook That once has been a river in spate A deflated balloon unable to soar high A blind bird that cannot see a dawn” those lines hit th most for me as sometimes we all do feel those things at some point! Island of loneliness, what a way to express and how well youv delivered this. Souls cry i feel that through this poignant and soul stirring poem: pleasure always reading you.
