Sorry For Mumbling

Sorry for mumbling But my memories are crumbling Of me and you On the swings in the park And how after dark You tucked me in bed With a kiss on my head Telling me wonderful tales While the Thunder shatteres And the Lightning flashes The streets around In dashes of purity I saw my father's love as my blanket security Both in sleep and awake And when he died The Thunder awoke The Lightnings power Inside the child That only a father's Love can suffer Now i tread the night without my Buffer

Love this. I was a lucky one. My dad didn't tuck me in bed, but loved to do fun things and tell jokes. Sad for others who didn't have good experience. Thanks for memories.

When my father passed on I did not shed a tear. The reason we never got along. He would always speak abuses words to me. But i shed tears for my mother.

Hello Darlene Sadly if you read Jan comments below she feels the same way. I never actually got on with my dad in life we were different people but I always knew he loved me. Our parents are a version of there parents sadly so they were probably UN loved so never knew how to love themselves

Your poem brought a huge lump to my throat Christopher - the bond between parent and child can be so strong and when they pass it is difficult to come to terms with - your forth stanza is so tenderly written - I wish I had felt this emotion with my own father:-( hugs jan xx
