Songs of Life
Songs of Life
The patter of raindrops, blown by the wind,
sloshed by passing cars, and settling my calmness,
soothe the restless wandering of my mind.
The Spanish in the background of my deli, lets me know
the path is clear.
The chickadees outside on my porch,
greet me on their arrival to my water baths.
The sweet “I love you’s” from my children,
make me a better man.
The “cling-clang-cling” of the evening train in the distance,
as it approaches a crossing, sings me to sleep.
The sounds I hear in my dreams….bring me to tomorrow.
