NEVER ATTEMPT TO JUDGE A MAN UNLESS YOU HAVE WALKED ONE MILE IN HIS SHOES.

Some people have great empathy for their fellow man, but most can't feel for anyone unless they have been through the same thing. For this reason it's best to keep your feelings to yourself unless you can be sure your confidante is sympathetic to your problems. I have found it's best to take my troubles to The Lord. He always listens and He always helps, maybe not right away but in time my prayers are always answered. Until then He gives me the strength I need to see me through. Most people seem to have blinders on when it comes to others. If they have not been through what you are now experiencing they have no idea what you're going through. Hence, they tend to be less than caring. I know it's a downer but it's a fact of life.  so the next time someone comes to you for a shoulder to lean on, Remember:                                 "YOUR OWN SOUL IS NOURISHED WHEN YOU ARE KIND; IT IS DESTROYED WHEN YOU ARE CRUEL."   Proverbs 11:17

Sometimes life is rather dreary. I can't quite seem to see things clearly. I feel somehow that something's lost, Though I'm not sure just quite what it was. My life of late seems just a chore. I'm lonely, depressed and just plain bored, And then I think how good God is, To give this little test or quiz, For when these times converge on me, That's when my eyes can truly see, The pain my sister maybe suffers, And better understand and love her.

Heya Judy, I’m not religious, agnostic I’d say, but I totally get where your coming from in this wonderful poem, I’m delighted you find happiness and contentment through your religion I certainly haven’t found all the answers, and never dismiss others beliefs of hand, cheers David

So well expressed. We understand other's pain by joining in their suffering. Very well done poem.

Nice phrasing: 'God's little quiz or test.' Insightful perspective on the true meaning of such boredom, Judy. Thanks, gw

Dear Judy, your poetic expression is soulful and beautiful. Deeply moving. I feel the weight of your words. The beauty of empathy was not handed out in even doses amongst humanity, but I believe that empathy generates empathy, as the last stanza of your poem so poignantly points out. The Light shines brightest in the darkness. Your poet's note is inspiring as well, dear poetess. Warmest wishes, my friend.. ~Susan
