Some Hauntings of the Brain
I.
Night Prologue
Turn, and turn again, pursuing sleep.
Between the dawns
Is this what Man was made for?
To turn, to turn.
Fearing the Blackness,
So afraid, I turn.
II.
Love Arrives
She came and spoke with him of many things.
He was thrown into confusion,
So mastered was he.
Her gentleness guided him;
And he was pleased.
She became his sea and sunset,
All that walked with beauty
He knew something priceless
Lay shining in his hand, knew he loved her,
That she understood.
III.
Wine
How smooth the taste of dreams is,
Placid in the glass: sunbeams
Woo our minds to silence through our days.
The sweetness of this Earth
Bites our tongues, as always,
Bringing shades of glory,
Shades of bitter.
IV.
Song
Our days may be forever, my love,
Or so, that is our wish.
Forever and forever, Love,
As so we wish.
Lie in my arms 'til nightfall, Love,
Whisper to me softly.
My silver tears will fall upon your breasts
As you fall into my arms.
V.
The Return to Darkness
The snow is falls hard now;
Now a last farewell.
The touch of hands,
Then into the cold
Dance of snowflakes falling,
Endlessly, Endlessly.
