Sohni Mahiwal - Love epic
Love has ever retained its glow,
for years and centuries have passed,
True to its eternal constant flow,
in history, etched and cast.
When Sohni swam across, in no boat,
as every evening craved her bare soul,
Held an earthen pot that kept her afloat,
as sun slowly slid to the other pole,
Soul mate Mahiwal waited at the bank,
as she emerged from water serene,
The world tagged them as crank,
an ocean as if walked to the supreme,
Lost in absolute zero, the two daily met,
till the envied dears played a foul game,
The trust woke up to a life's regret,
the punctured pot, waters were in flame,
Waves engulfed to set them free,
united by death, they rode the tides,
Heavenly abode beyond the skies,
Alive in hymns as their souls sing out !
