Snowflakes With Biting Teeth
Oh, beautiful snowflakes, so pure and so white,
from heaven, you fell thru the darkness of night.
This morn I awoke to your splendor so bright
'neath blue sky and sunshine, my new-day delight.
Behind my cold window, I take in the sight,
yet cozy and warmed by the sun's soothing light.
A blanket of snow hugs the landscape on-site...
but now comes a thought that uncovers my fright.
The squirrels and rabbits, birds landing from flight;
the deer, fox, coyote, that roam come twilight...
I think of their feet, and somehow it's not right
this lovely scene hides frosty snowflakes that bite.
A human I am...and I cringe at their plight!
Though nature provides...sparing painful frostbite.
