You live where it snows, yes? You write of it so well! I do not, so snow holds such a romantic, mysterious quality to it. The land 'hibernating' is so evocative of winter, like a bear in her cave. The snow quietly covering the land in a soft blanket has almost a lullaby sense to it. I'm already feeling sleepy! Picturesque and delightful, Susan.

Yes, I live where it snows, but unfortunately, this past winter we received very little :( I do love snow. Other than the joy of playing in it and the challenge of shoveling it, to me, snow symbolizes serenity, romance, turbulence, delicacy and the pure power and artistry of Nature. It pleases me to know your were lulled by my imagery, John. Your lovely comments encourage me to reach ever higher. Warmest wishes always, my dear friend.. ~Susan

Hibernating land, I like that. Cools me down, just the thought of it. I miss the snow. I have got the sledge in my mind already and can taste the snow. Kind wishes, Kai

after the lull of winter the hibernating rose pushes through and greets the spring, we need to learn to appreciate each season, and yes even the snow. Lovely haiku Susan. Thank you for sharing.

"Hibernating" is the perfect word to describe the land beneath snow, Susan. Knowing life will rebound in spring helps us enjoy a beautiful snowfall even more. Excellent Haiku! You and Paul have quite a knack for this form. Love, Carolyn

Indeed, Carolyn, you truly feel the spirit of my haiku. I have always found snow comforting and have always regarded a blanket of snow as protective of the sleeping earth. Thank you for your lovely comments and for mentioning Paul, I have learned so much by reading his excellent poetry, and other talented poets/poetesses as well, yourself included my lovely friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

Very lovely imagery! Something to remember: good always hibernating in us, ready for our seasons of release. We are never entirely alone--though life is sometimes cold and isolating.

A haiku with feel that I can breathe in and delightfully exhale. I regret that I'm so 'click-scattered' on Soup that I haven't been led here lately as much as I would like. Think of you and have loved your poetry since I read the first syllable posted on Soup. Wishes for a fulfilling year ... CayCay
