I work at the library. I can't tell you how many people light up when you greet them with a smile and hello! Same with church. Same everywhere!
SMILE
it’s worth a face of wrinkles. Lights up someone's soul.
And that worthwhile warmth may be passed lip to lip -
Forgiving a child, remembering to call an elderly parent,
The entire list is extensive, not expensive at all.
I am quite sure it is likely to be passed around the world,
Friendly like the beaming sun.
Put a stamp on those lips, send it to pen pals,
If they still exist.
Curious things those smiles. Some see frowns, sad eyes, drooping shoulders
And leave it at that...seeing crocodile eyes, angry strides.
And yet I’ve seen the worth of two lips, that say hello, look a person
In the eyes, and genuinely smile.
Rarely does it return to you upside-down -
Certainly not in style.
