I miss the loving, almost musical Feel of them, the smiles Once breaking across a face Upon first meeting With complete abandon Lovely, loving and laughing Like joy sparked by the reunion Between two friends Acquaintances or family They are happy to be assembled Together, there amid the luxury Of hours, moments, seconds Time realizes how delicate the smile Can be, how fruitful and filling How alive and willing To give a part of the heart Without conditions The smile is a living thing A brilliant whisper of tenderness Caressing the spirit of the one who listens With a beaming reply From lips who breath joy Through the melancholy world That is now penetrated by covid And the masks that relieve us all Of the smiles we once wore I wonder, can someone still see My smile radiating From my laughing eyes? Do they see my grin behind This mask of apprehension?

Dear Gina, your pensive pen is graceful and eloquent. The deep musing of your wonderfully poetic heart touches mine with your wistful expression of a smile-less world. Exquisite poetry, my friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

You have smiley eyes so I expect that they can. I too miss smiling faces. Hugs Rick.
