Notes About The Poem

for Edward Ibeh's contest.    ~ Slow Sink ~

somedays, poetry can be my saviour and my slaughterer, both, cuz this heart is jus too sensitive and sinks in the depths of sentiments that feel too eternal to flicker away and leave ...

thank you, dear poetic angels, for reading me ever so kindly!

Slow Sink

 star-swept with
soft blushing blooms ...
this slow sink ,
swathes my henna heart
with deep mauve hues ...
as I fall into the frostbitten lake
mispronouncing ~
the marmoris of metaphors
that were meant
to burn with magic ,
where the soulmate of poetry
breaks within the tears of sunset ~
sipping sighs of sorrow
from the crystal sky ,
that leaks loneliness
through the cracks of
liquid lilacs and lavender light ,
because there seems to be
no translation for the
language of love
that weaves woes
from warm wisteria
  instead of blossoming
in coffee-scented chiffons
  moulded into origami orchids ~
without any creases
and I wear no name
in the absence
of your ablaze august ashes …

read me swiftly
orchestrating in
the blackcurrant tattoos
breathing ... in tributaries
stretching to
the silent traces of trauma ,
twinkling with
turquoise and turpentine

for, I am not alive ~
but the seas still crash
the swollen shadows in my ribs ,
kissing the fallen sun …
that ebbs and flows …
through violets
of vaporising violas
like an incensed inferno ,
uncensored with ultraviolence
escaping the delirious doom
within driftwood dreams …

I want you ~
to not speak to me
so in affection
in this sparkling satanic siesta,
because poetry
has forevermore been
my saviour and my slaughterer ~
that leaves me …
drifting with the flow ,
in exile … evermore …
chained with
    moonstone cobwebs
of confused consciousness
   and conversing cryptics ~
befogged with gaslit goldens
laced with forest greens,
where verses wander
like a villain ,
withering
         in emeralds …
 listen, O velvet ink,
               longing to be
                           r e
                          s c u
                                e d …

Hey there Hiya! This one I can only describe as a haunting descent into the deep self, where love, language and identity seem to dissolve into each other. Yet beneath all the mind-blowing imagery, I sense someone, possibly like me, searching to find meaning in their own existence, one thing’s for sure you have written this piece much more eloquently than I ever could, love this (like an incensed inferno uncensored with ultraviolence escaping the delirious doom, How relatableI, (A fave for those lines alone) top contender for Ed’s contest, very best of luck, cheers David

"there seems to be no translation for the language of love" -- Nothing definitive, that is for sure. Love needs no affirmation but its presence. "listen, O velvet ink, longing to be r e s c u e d …" Really cannot separate the poet from the poetry. It is who we are...perpetrator and victim. Great writing my friend!

Dear Hiya, as I sink into the depths and hues of your poetic catharsis your words speak to me of the saving graces of writing, the agonies and the ecstasies, "my savior and my slaughter!" Every line overflows with poetic lines that speak so eloquently of this experience. What a pleasure to read such eloquence, dear poetess. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings of starlit inspiration to you! ✨

a desolate sink into the pit of poetry , hiya...we release much angst and sheer passion to create a well for catharsis to spill our raw expressions...with alliterative imagery and juxtaposed wordplay, i am slain!

Dear Hiya, Anyone who has ever tried to bleed their realest feelings onto a page knows that exact tension. Writing can be the very thing that rescues us, giving us a place to put our grief, but it also forces us to sit face-to-face with our own wounds line by line. It heals us while making us re-examine the cut. I really appreciate the honesty in contrasting how we wish life and love worked, smooth and seamless, like "origami orchids without any creases" versus the messy, tangled reality of navigating "silent traces of trauma. Excellent my Friend, Blessings, Daniel

Hiya, my read of these verses gives me a feeling of empathy that includes sadness. While at least the character in the poem has poetry and language to express herself, I can only hope she can start living in the moment. This is a real educational and psychological piece that we can all learn from. Your work is exceptional in this regard. Hope you are well and sending a big SMILE!!!😀

Dear Hiya, your metaphors burn with magic, no doubt.🔥 Poetry is your forte and as you claim, your saviour. From you, founts of sweet verse eject out, delighting all. Though you may be unable to translate the language of love, you sublimate your woes into sublime poetry. Not many can match with your alliterative lines. Keep soaring high. Another FAV. 👍♥️

Your saviour and slaughterer, gosh! That line and so much more here resonates and hits my soul so very deeply dear angelic star! I absolutely love "like an incensed inferno , uncencored with ultraviolence escaping the delirious doom within driftwood dreams …" the wordplay! Is intelligent, smart, creative and so very heart touching! Everything about this made my whole mind and soul quiver in awe! Feeling the depth of emotions! And the metaphors are absolutely gorgeous! And so are the alliterations
