Old age once seemed like some distant destination on some horizon uncharted. Yet, just as one step in front of the other will take you thousands of miles if you keep walking, my old age arrived and caught me quite unaware.
bones grating together, muscles achingly overworked, bladder slightly overactive, eyelids heavy and blinking, yet never able to find restful peace

Many will relate to your words my sweet friend... some age with grace, but some seem to want to be plastic.. most dont care ...

awww, thank you, Silent One. I do hope some will relate to my poem. I've never been one to be 'plastic' in anything I do. I'd like to age graciously like my grandmother did. She was sweet and uplifting up till the end. Died peacefully in her sleep like she wanted at the age of 100. I should be so lucky. I appreciate your consistent visits and support. Enjoy the remainder of your week, Sara

The wear and tear of age slows down the body, but joyfully the soul can sing undiminished. Keep the songs coming...

It catches up with us all Sara, I remember my brother saying to me when he hit forty, bits start dropping off I laughed at him then but I'm not laughing now lol. One positive though, we gain wisdom and a lifetime of memories. Tom
