Sleepless Night

Teardrops, bagged eyes, a way of sin
The mirror reveals a lost eternal soul
A conniving move against tonight's phantom glow
Voices circle the insomniac moon
Like magic and beauty, "She's Gone With the Wind."

The idea of love,
broken like yesterday's wishbone.
She is leaving today, her arms, my shelter
Her wings are now immense.
Beauty --- she's gone forever!
Never will she suffer-
Never will she return-
All I have are lost memories,
tracing what is left.
One final deep breath
tequila vice to wash away the pain.....

At Last, Now I See!
Under the drunken stars
I had an epiphany
Stricken like a match
A sunken treasure
At Last, I Knew
You did not belong in there,
you were there for the taking
Frail and sick, no longer sane.
Memories lost, no longer - her
My Mother!

What has become of her?
You're a demon, who played us all
Made us cry, while she slowly withered away

The way you laid waste to her body
Nipping both legs, feeding her through tubes

She rapidly forgot our names' our faces'
I hate you, Alzheimer
I hate the way you took her the first time!
I hate you, Death
I hate the way you claimed her final days!

Sleepless nights and pillowed feathers,
Caress a precious moment around my tender skin
Pretending my mother tucked them in
Anything to help me get past my sleepless nights

A cup of kindness here. And in every word a sign of wanting others to take heart and look deeper for the memories more precious than gold that that those now lost left us. Cant remember the full quote but basically says building up a store of good memories is key to getting through difficult times. Best regards David in NZ

A very memorable, yet tenderly sad poem, Linda. I feel the pain and the angst in the writer's voice. You paint a tapestry of images w/words so poignant and beautiful. You are a poetic artist par excellence. You got the gift for sure. Great write, and a powerful issue to bring to light, for us to speak our mind on such a dreadful scourge. Love your work. Love always and forever, my dear.

Brings back sad memories of my mom's last years. But it also allows me to recall the joy of a lifetime of love she gave all of her family and friends. Congratulations, Linda! ...Fran

I don't envy you for what you went through here. I do however envy the way you can write, expressing your emotions in a raw, honest verse. 10,000 clicks on this one nice!

This is why I stopped reading you,I was laughing twenty seconds ago.Seriously though I think you stole one of my journals. They said my Mamaw,my Baby, wouldn't make it six weeks.I moved back and we kept each other laughing for four years. She was one-hundred and four months, she left on April Fool's Day,my Papaw's birthday.I think she did that on purpose..j.k.kinda,she was amazing! She always thought I was her husband. As always great write and my sympathies.I pray thats fiction but don't think so>Jai
