Sleeping
I’m told I crawled before I stood,
but I really don’t remember. Early
on I flopped a lot, before a steady
gate. I believe it was a September?
Or maybe in a November?
September? November? ~ I really
don’t remember. While I do remember
never able to dream. To this day
not a night of gleam. Doctors claim
a screwy REM, spiritualists also
say I do but forget – I say, a curiosity,
while nothing I deeply fret. But with
so much of my life asleep, I wonder
why such a mysterious deep? Yet
guardian angels I guess, watching over
me – would be nice if one made a peep.
