Silent Storms
The silent storm is like the depths of sea
arisen from a blackened summer sky.
Atomic flash with bright intensity
the power spark which teases at the eye.
Some folks have no need for roaring thunder.
They feel its deep vibration in the soul.
Heaven’s fireworks display, such a wonder
as rains fall and wind slaps the face in scold.
Aromas strong outside your garden door
as hot ground meets the moisture from the clouds
emanating gentle whiffs of petrichor
distraction from a clash of air so loud.
Silent storms speak in streaks of bright white light,
sudden flash of pure brilliance in your sight.
