Silence

It whispers to me day and night calling my name is hushed tones. When out in company I hear it still always there, silence patiently waits. Walking along by my side noticing each time I pause. At night sat alone, telly playing silence surrounds me, all else shut out. Pouring in, trying to invade my soul slowly sucking the life out of me. Until I become an empty vessel as brittle as dead flowers. I try to reach up above it but a losing battle I fight. It permeates my being with its insidious ways. Now I accept it like a lover holding silence oh so close. Letting it in, accepting it taking comfort in its grasp. And as the silence plays on I lay down in its folds. It is now my own shadow following where ever I go. Written 08/09/2015 contest shhhhh sponsored by Silent One

brilliant personification especially toward the end when you accept it and it is your own shadow. I loved that part! How did I never see this one?
