Siege

So much has happened, too much to tell, but now there is a knight assaulting the lair of the beast. It has not been an easy battle; so far the beast is ahead, but the knight still lives and is preparing for what he hopes is his last stand before victory. A siege of the abyss has begun and for the first time real progress can be seen. The beast is trapped, the abyss is no more, and it is now only a matter of time before the knight stands victorious. A long fight still lies ahead, and the knight is just one man. Only time will tell if the beast is to be defeated. There is no God here, and no help to be found, just sheer strength of will and body to determine fate.

The knight isn't as alone as he feels. Not anymore. And he has more weapons at hand. This is very descriptive, I love it. I can see everything clearly. The struggle, both past and the one looming over the horizon. Excellent job. :)

This is an awesome metaphor for inner conflict- between becoming civilized and the power of animal roots. There is definitely a timeless battle in this. Justin

Thanks Justin, I was hoping the inner conflict would be clear. My one featured poem is kind of a prequel to this one. Sadly, it's all my life; but hopefully the next poem I post on this subject will feature a beast slain.
