'should Have - Could Have'

when thoughts drift away to things that should have been that you wished could have been all the exit signs marked you wish your feet would just move so you won't feel like you didn't try but in the back of your mind, you know you did your heart's echo is sometimes so piercing you struggle to actually go even though you know it's not safe to cling to that thing that should have been that thing you wished could have been

The title reminded me of Shel Silverstein's poem "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda". I enjoyed it from start to finish. The hearts's echo IS piercing. Great job!

This is indeed a gem of a poem...so often we let our minds drift there...moments lost, slipped by and wishing we could have, should have done things differently. Enjoyed !!

I really enjoyed this grandiose and wondrous write Wilma! I know exactly how you feel within this poem! This piece expresses a perfect dilemma that is often felt with having something hanging over your head that could've been different, maybe should have been different! What a fabulous write, Great Work!!
