She Walked In the Room With Her Pen and a Smile
She walked in the room
with her pen and a smile
Determined to be
so much more than is seen
Dressed all in blue
it’s her favorite color
Well just about
if she’s not wearing green
Picks out a spot
doesn’t care if it’s taken
Planning to start
getting right in the groove
To hell with the men
in their grey suits of flannel
She has arrived
and has something to prove
Give her a task
she will handle it quickly
Don’t blink an eye
or she’ll pass you right by
She’s here to work
isn’t into game playing
Only knows “do”
there is no thing as “try”
She isn’t looking
to climb any ladders
But if she was,
she would land at the top
Focused on solving
the difficult problems
Once she gets going,
she’s so hard to stop
Don’t call her a girl
for she is a woman
So very strong
in her own special style
They could all see
she was no one to mess with
When she walked in the room
with her pen and a smile
Just having a little fun this afternoon. Written about a good friend who fits this poem perfectly
