She Has a Story For a Story
She has a story for the story.
A tale that can surpass anything I have concocted.
Luckily, I do not have to conjure anything on my own.
People open up their mouths and pour their stories out.
Onto my head, over my shoulders, down my sides, onto the floor.
I have to walk through their stories to get to my own.
I have to kick some of their stories out of the way.
Some of their stories turn into alligators and bite me.
Some of their stories turn into fire
Reminding me what a pyromaniac I am.
She has another story.
I walk away
Because I cannot
take one more.
I am smothered
in
stories.
