She

The way she twists her hair and places back that wayward wisp behind her ear, the way she checks her face in every mirror. How she shimmers to the ladies' room to re-apply her lipstick, or she lingers irresistibly as you politely hold the door ajar. The way she glides so smoothly; you're speechless as she commandeers the room; 'neath her spell you're both the best man and the fool.

You did a really great thing with this poem. She should sound ridiculously vain "checks her face in every mirror". But, instead she sounds like an angel. I adore the double meaning "the best man". The best man, because you got the girl? Or the best man at her wedding? I'm going to be pondering that one! Well done! Nathaniel

Keith (grin) you know I want the wisp with the wayward aye? Remember I'm a form novice but when I checked quatrain (to learn from you) it said you need a repeated line? changing where it is in each stanze..moving down? Ready for enlightenment!!! Deb Guzzi Here Light & Love

Kieth, I like the poem -well written and saucy. The last line is an anticlimax. Thanks also for your learned comments on my poem A Paper Boat. -Mohammad

Sounds like you missed the boat on the bride, deep and sad. To have such strong feeling for someone you can never have. Beautiful, keep writing. Judy Riley
