Sharing the Light
A shaft of light upon my neighbor's land
is owned by him, but it is also mine
To rise at dawn, and from a captured view
He stakes his claim, not knowing I will too
The sun will break, each morning, crimson bold
And finally when his darkness comes so cold
A shaft of light will land upon my back
That tells me somewhere else the night is black
I know tonight when my own world tucks in
A shaft of light some place will rise again
I share the sun, with those I'll never know
Perhaps it lights a way for us to grow
