Praise Lord a Second

Glistening snow sets the Christmas-like mood Sleigh bell magic, happy hearts, who could brood? Children take off their gloves to make snowballs Boisterous songs, full community halls Magic sugar rolled into Christmas dough. A winter kick off wherever we go Grandma’s memories, coming clear today We wish Nana’s sweet mind could somehow stay. Warm hot cookies, shaped as Bethlehem’s star, Praise Lord a second, wherever you are. Hot from the kitchen, where our children laugh, Christmas month, our school time cut in half, Such a joyful holiday, people good. One magical month, acting as they should. A great Christmas Sonnet; I like the ring size and favorite color at the end; great touch. Beat of luck in all of the contests.

The ring size and favorite color of jewelry were specifically asked for by the judge, as she makes a habit of sending out very wonderful pieces of jewelry to the winners.

I'm generally an old scroogy curmudgeon around Christmas... but even I enjoyed this one! Especially the last part- "Such a joyful holiday, people good./ One magical month, acting as they should." (I only wish the 'goodwill' would last year-round...)

It is funny to me that people can act terrific for about three weeks, then Christmas is over, and off they go to be snooty and snobbish and non-helpful again.
