Shadows of Christmas Past
One day a year darkness appears
A looming shadow of reflection
Alone without a family hearing carols sung
Busy shoppers buying presents
Children's eyes light up with glee
Christmas tree lighting in town
All the makings of Christmas joy
All at my finger tips but out of reach
No one to buy for or see children's smiles
No one to kiss under the Mistletoe
No Christmas dinner or sweet smells
No present wrapping with golden bows
No father or mother left, all brothers gone
No Aunts Uncles or cousins no laughter singing songs
No spirit of Christmas, my loved ones are all gone
This one day a year I can only sit
Reflecting on these shadows of Christmas past
Alone
