Shadows In Motion

Inspired by the painting Shadows In Motion by Ewa Czarniecka Which shows people walking in heavy rain. The pallette used is all subdued colours mainly focussing on greys and blacks. The ground looks shiny and wet. Some people have umbrellas, others don't. They are all shadowy. It appears to be evening, possibly twilight. The dark edges of the picture Define the mood Needing to be Anywhere but here Projections of self already home and dry Despite the rain Not all shelter Some tread on with sodden clothes Knowing this is just part of a journey Just a day, in a life Undefining As a moment Others reflect the timing They are the ones to be rained on Are you caught in the beam of light Or shackled to the dark shadows Overall, even on this day There is more light than dark Walking in the rain Is part of the experience of life Captured in the middle of something Greater than yourself See how the people, break up the shadows And the light Though the rain removes traces of them all WIP

Thank you Kim - there are so many rainy umbrella paintings but I always find them quite mesmerising

Our lives are but shadows in the rain. Very thoughtful, putting us all in our rather insignificant place, especially if it’s raining. Well written poem resulting in a pause for thought.

I've made a subtle change to formatting, that hopefully appears like a sunbeam. Just in case it's raining anywhere :)

Ahh, in my mind the overall message was along the lines of look on the bright side and enjoy life and all its impermanence. But I'd just written it down quickly from looking at the picture then was going to revisit later. I doubt I'll make it all that cheery (although I might find a happy painting and write about that!). Luckily it's sunny here! Thank you for commenting, as always
