Shadows

I’m leaning out my window gazing at a silhouette against the full yellow moon. “Come to Never-never Land,” calls a voice from my childhood. I reach out to touch the dream - but am left holding shadows. Written by Andrea Dietrich on Nov, 9, 2014/ Theme: Silhouette of Night for the SILHOUETTE OF A HEPTAGONET Contest of nette onclaud

couldn't do that, Richard. It was a contest and I was restricted by verses and number of syllables as well.

Well, not only the eternal young Peter Pan` Silhouette comes in your poetry (who actually is a luminous one in the night, but also the verses`desire to touch immortality. As I observed along years your art has its own very personal Silhouette -and all my words are of high esteem and admiration-,and if I am allowed to observe it is a little sad our touched by melancholy and nostalgia .All noble souls are.

..."straight ahead 'til morning - first star on the right". Andrea, I often sing the song from Peter Pan - "I won't grow up"...Very amusing and interesting take on the theme.

Those dreams live on in our memory, but they will never come back again! They are but shadows from the past. // This is one of the top best that I have read; congratulations!! my silhouette was left wandering in the wilderness!:) // paul

Peter Pan was one of those Disney flicks that somehow slipped my childhood - never watched the movie! I know the scene you're referring too, however, and it's an apt representation of nostalgia and longing. You've made use of the brevity. I'm assuming a heptagonet is a poem of seven lines, each with seven syllables? I've never heard of the form, but I just started counting... lol.

It is so sad to realize that we've grown farther away from our childhood dreams... I truly enjoyed this beautiful write, Andrea. I loved the references to the Peter Pan story. Wonderful! Good luck in Nette's contest!

Perspective casts thoughts far and wide. But we're the one's who must decide. What dreams are worth in today's world. And what dreams aren't worth being squirreled. We reach out for a past that's passed. I guess it's just our memories that last. Peace. :)

you got it, of course it is from Peter Pan. Remember how his shadow was lost and he was looking for it when he met Wendy?
