The curtain of pain fell upon us as we stood,
at his tomb and snow kissed our quivering lips;
and my voice was lead- it seemed I was made of wood,
the cold air chilled me and I recall a pain that whips.
wind pulling my raven hair like a flowing river,
oh, the scar on my soul was bleeding for my baby;
with hair tangles entwined and I was all a quiver;
would I ever love like this again- m a y b e . . .
That moment was to be a shadow on my wall of time,
as I stood sobbing in this place of decaying- apart;
and our united sorrow was a vine that will forever climb;
oh, my husband was like a stone right to his heart.
Never again would he smile at me with unbidden joy,
and alone- I would be the one bringing a rose for our boy.
