September Sun
Listen to poem:
All good things must come to an end
We arguably had our fill of summer
Now anticipating fresh adventures
All part of the life cycle of growing up
First disconcerting days of school
Under a warm sumptuous September sun
The excitement of new beginnings
Met with eagerness to grasp the challenges
Drumming up a new routine
Breaking in crisp new books
A taste of things to come
Ins and outs of new and familiar faces
So many years later long out of school
Yet my biological clock
Still feels the excitement
That ingrained internal programming
There’s something exquisitely magical
About a bright September sun
Something that screams with exuberance
Happy new school year!
