September Sun

All good things must come to an end We arguably had our fill of summer Now anticipating fresh adventures All part of the life cycle of growing up First disconcerting days of school Under a warm sumptuous September sun The excitement of new beginnings Met with eagerness to grasp the challenges Drumming up a new routine Breaking in crisp new books A taste of things to come Ins and outs of new and familiar faces So many years later long out of school Yet my biological clock Still feels the excitement That ingrained internal programming There’s something exquisitely magical About a bright September sun Something that screams with exuberance Happy new school year! Line, I am interested in the melting snowball contest of yours. I want to know which you prefer: decreasing words, syllables or letters? Do you have a sample poem somewhere for me to see? I would love to see how you did yours.

I prefer poems that decrease by one syllable but entries with decreasing words will be evenly judged. Now some decreased by 2 words so that is acceptable as well. I will post my melting snowball tonight.

My biological clock has long stopped working! haha. I do, however, feel melancholy creeping when the fall arrives. I am just a summer girl! I always looked forward to school being out for summer instead of starting. I think you capture very well the excitement of new beginnings of September, and it's so nice that also it is sunny!

Thanks, Andrea. To clarify - that school-is-starting excitement only lasted 2 days whereas school-is-ending lasted a minimum of four weeks. Thanks so much for your visit.
