ages ...
years flow between us
as two oceans of the world we spin upon
yet, just as the earthly abyss
we course as one
we are blue waters, deep
different - ebb and flow - yet the same essence
fluid thoughts and movements tugged by the moon
but e'er surrounding our earthly intent
you are my true north - my constant
but not constantly the same
our days, marked by the breadths of actuality
yet, oh, those extraordinary moments
a winding river of passion, I swim
sinuous, curving, up into the core of you
yearning for your source, your fountain-spring
meeting in THAT place, a-swirl
sacred moments, brief in time
that stretch into infinity, hushed
where I no longer know my being's end
or the beginning of yours
we are twined together ... ONE
so universally fused in euphoria
that I nearly feel ... alone
we are precise, singular, bound-and-bare
so exquisitely affiliated
that no discernible difference remains -
all partitions and segregations, dissolved
melted by feelings too complex to emote ...
nonetheless ... in all honesty
there are times when I question everything
when I wonder if you are who you are
if I am who you need me to be
times when I reach for your soul
and it avoids my perceptions ...
times when I fail, when I struggle so
just to be the cheek to your tears
the shore to your surf
the reef you break yourself upon
when the rest of the world is adoring you
and you are incensed by their inability to know your depths
when your beauty is the quality you despise:
others, who focus their first gaze on you
catching breath at your elegance and symmetry -
you, enraged by their shallow piety and veneration
but even THEN, in your ire and my awe
we are perfection, imperfect
we are a constellation, burning
sometimes light years hence, in apogee ...
at other times as one, but ...
always the ellipse - the oval - drawn and held, invisibly
ever a shimmering pulse, resplendent
and a trembling certainty
a beautiful and keen prospect
set adrift in the azure expanse of US
age, distance, actualities, time
all but swells in the surf
and LOVE ... our eternal compass.
