Perusing the dictionary for words to enlighten, That would illuminate through my paper and pen, My mental absorption was in dire need, I urgently required gaining a word seed. Sadly my pocket Oxford lacks total opulence, With pompous words, that may not make sense, Quickly flicking the pages from A to Z, Realizing a thesaurus is next in line for me. It's rather difficult to be a poet unschooled, It may appear as though I have been fooled, As problematic as this is indeed, I shall revitalize my mind to feed. Leaving remnants of my past self behind, In reminiscence, I shall quiet my mind, For I am rather inquisitive for things to learn, I just hope I don't injure my brain in turn.

Sometimes our brains explode searching for the definitions of words. This sums up the writing process.

I love this Rick! Words and sentiments, a poet's best friend, you nailed it. 7+ A twisted brain is fine by the way, makes for the most interesting poetry. :)

Great write, and perfect ending. There's a Dylan Moran joke about Releasing Your "Potential" that the last two lines remind me of. Of course, it's just a comedy bit and not meant to offend. But you have perseverance and that, I think, reaps the most happiness. You have a way with words. -- Wesley C.

I had to ROFLMAO here ;) because that is exactly what I do. Being a non-native speaker of English, I sometimes pull my hair out with sheer frustration, in search of the right words or expressions.
