Scarecrow Loves Leaf Branch
Scarecrow was immediately attracted to lemon orange leaves slim.
Are you oak? He asked, wondering what other secrets she kept.
She was shy, and nodded, but used no words, which intrigued him.
Would you like to be my date at the ball tonight? He asked her on the step.
She again nodded, and he thought he heard the start of a tiny giggle.
He could really get used to this woman in his life, he wisely thought.
Shall we dance a bit? He queried. And she began a gentle wiggle.
This darling was the best leaf branch he had ever met or sought.
They courted throughout October; in November things got cold.
She admired his pretty smile, and loving ways. He loved it she was tall.
They decided to marry in January, and grow together ‘til quite old.
They live in a closet under the stairs, and come out each fall.
