Saw the Ducks Today
saw the ducks today
waddling, single file, no masks,
nothing social about their distancing
watched a toddler and a frog
shaking muddy hands
smiling as if to say
"friggit" it's summer
observed an old man
fencing with his cane
parrying with the crosswalk signal button
caught a glimpse
of a frustrated youngster
attempting to resolve
the ice cream cone vs mask conundrum
smiled an unseen smile
muttered a muffled cuss word
tossed a stone into the pond
ripples radiating outward
six feet apart....
