I’ve known joy and I’ve known pain I’ve seen the sunshine and I’ve seen the rain There have been moments of laughter And moments of tears Life has given me compassion While time has granted me Blessings for which I’m so thankful I’ve known the warmth of Spring And I’ve seen Winter’s cold inhibit There have been days when I could praise While at times I’ve felt like I’ve lost my mind Sometimes, silence has given me solace While other times, it’s brought me misery Will I ever know the wisdom that comes From being close to God, who created us all? I’ve known desperation and anguish Felt the sadness that comes when the light Shines across the sins that have been given A chance to grow wild and penetrate the soul With resentment and bitterness, feelings That make sure the heart never knows The path to truth and wisdom, the way to give From the heart of hope, faith and love The gift of tenderness that comes from knowing The breath of God against the spirit, instilling Within the heart, a compassion that assures There will always be second chances, good Life and light that comes from knowing The grace that comes down from above Is brought to life by the prayers that thrive From knowing that Jesus blood is flowing And we can apply it to our hearts, where We have the opportunity to sing praises To the God who has come down to save us Salvation comes from knowing God Through the whisper of grace that softens The hardest heart, the saddest soul With a sweetness that arises from the joy That comes alive once you know Him
