Sassy Sun Rarely Shares Her Secrets
sassy sun shares her sordid secrets with few
perhaps dainty rose bush in summer
a glimmer offered to pumpkin in October
nature’s season features strain to understand
but sun reveals to only a favorite few, her ideals
this December the oaks are straining to understand
sun smirks, glowing on icy field covered with blue white snow
one bunny has left streaks of soft sliding jumps as tiny ski marks
the rest of the snow is pristine, twinkling and shining like diamonds
the entire scene blue white if you do not count the oaks.
a lone cardinal hears sun’s secret as she begins to melt night's snow.
sings sun's truth with eager beak. robins and wrens join harmony.
all is lovely until blue jay’s caw distorts sun’s secret.
the only reality left is a frozen field guarded by oaks.
sun gladly leaves for the evening.
