Sadness Has a Way
Sadness has a way of showing with trees hanging low
Broken branches from wind that was just too fierce
One time, spearing a branch straight up into my lawn
Sadness has a way of slowing down the gurgling brook
Even consuming it with stagnant, murky water at times
Sadness has a way of returning with gray overcast skies
Leaving a blank canvas sitting still without any color...
--- But trees do heal ---
--- Brooks sing again ---
--- And the sun returns ---
