Possible answer: Why? ---because the Church lost its hold, gradually at first, on the 'silent majority' of Americans. Nature abhors a vacuum. In Love's absence, hatred and jealousy rushed in to fill the gap, along with the banality of 'Technology,' Our New Savior. (Ugh). Peace, Blessings, and LOVE, Gershon

There are so many reasons. I blame Bart Simpson for the disrespect in schools, but actually, parents do not EXPECT respect from their children, so how can they respect anyone else? Not ALL parents, but MANY.
