Sad Documentarium

Sorry dad, hate that I gotta turn you in You don’t have the legal documentation to stay here like I do Sorry mom, sad that I gotta report you too You’ve been hiding in the shadows for years, it’s time for the spotlight to shine on you Your illegal presence is a cultural bane, and a national resource drain Unlawful immigrants are subject to citizen arrest, then taken to the proper authorities and given a loyalty test You say this is unconstitutional Maybe ... probably ... even likely But the government has got a return package that needs to be sent ... so don’t get liberal bent I know you’re wondering, mother ... how could your own child do this to you But you know, and father does also, that I’m a faithful patriot who took the childhood pledge I’m an American citizen first and foremost It was you two who taught me about sacrifice: said you don’t always get to have butter on your toast It’s a sad day, seeing you both get deported Go back home and get the legal documents you need, I’ll be waiting In the meantime, I’ll pray and grieve As of right now, I’m very sorry — but you both gotta leave

Dear Freddie, You have a gift, being your pen. Your work is so well written!! Laws are laws! Conscience is conscience! At times, when they are mixed, one hell of a conflict is created! My 2 cents is Love rules!! 7 My best to you man, chuck

Freddie your fun way of writing screams the truth as always. Sad the day-when one has to see their own parents being deported in order to save ones own skin. When loyalty to a country takes precedence over conscience, that is even sadder- extremely. ..Maria

Freddie, I love what you have written here. The sad truth is we have laws. There is a path that leads to citizenship. Breaking the law and then crying foul is not it. It is sad that some choose to do things the wrong way. It makes every immigrant the subject of scrutiny. It tugs at the heart strings of caring individuals but an open border is not working. I have Latino neighbors, all good people. I simply don't ask if they are here legally.
