Sacked

In horned helmets and draped in fearsome skins,
the Viking warriors berserk in the village.
Our men with sickles fight to save their kin
as blood runs the path, men rape and pillage.
Our loved ones butchered and, oh the din,
as sisters shackled are thrust in iron cages
And so, the Saxon shore of England bore
the hordes of Odin and the might of Thor.

With the blood of children still on their hands
we women were carried to their foreign shore
to live as trells, slaves in that cold land
amongst cattle and sheep we'd sleep on the floor
our every breath at their Kings command
no more to see our homeland, our green shore
And so, by fjords we woman lived and bore
children for Odin and the might of Thor.

This would take the most stalwart women to survive such a difficult time in history....some of that strength, passed down through the ages for generations...(I believe you have inherited a strong constitution...) Great work!!
