Rusty Hinges

Silent footprints left by you impressions frozen in time as you hurried into the empty cold night I sat alone, watching the door it never moved for a time, it stayed open still hoping, you would return there was only silence its hinges turned rusty and fell 7/18/14

WOW, this is really good. That door sure stayed open a long time though!! Sounds like the door to a gate maybe. It's a sad poem and I love that kind of poetry with this poetry form.
