Notes About The Poem

* Also referred to as “GPS,” for Global Positioning System, this commonly means an electronic device used to tell a person their geolocation and time information based on a system of satellites constantly taking and reporting this data.

Rudolph Re-routed

Smog and blackouts led to an off-track sleigh,
‘til Rudolph’s red nose could not save the day.
            Santa refused to show stress,
            So he used his G-P-S*
To get Christmas Eve trek back on its way!

Even Santa is influenced by the modern technology for navigating from place to place. Great Limerick. Congratulations dear friend on your winning entry. Sorry for my late response as l am busy with my son's marriage. Dear Bartholomew, let the new year be one of great happiness for you.

To some extent, you are right, Paula. With the smog and power outages, cities, towns, and villages went dark, so GPS had to take the "lead" (vs. Rudolph, under normal conditions). Hopefully, GPS only has to back up Rudolph on rare occasions! Thanks for your nice note. Happy 2026 to you and yours!! Bartholomew

So, Rudolph is well versed in modern technology to chart his route. He has turned very practical. Enjoyed the humor of this. All the best dear Bartholomew.

Bartholomew, thank you so much for sharing that wonderful festive poem! Your witty take on the modern challenges of Christmas Eve travel really brightened my day. The blend of traditional folklore with a contemporary twist, complete with GPS, is fantastic. Your creativity and sense of humor are much appreciated. Best regards, William

You are quite welcome, William. Thank you for reading and enjoying my limerick! Also, assuming you are from Hawaii, I have visited your lovely state three separate times, one time actually staying in Hilo (beautiful bay!). We loved shopping at Hilo Hattie's whenever we traveled to the islands (our 50th state visited, by the way). Thank you for your very kind comments. Mele Kalikimaka to you and yours!! :) Bartholomew

Hello Bartholomew, I loved the clever humor in this limerick and the image of Rudolph sidelined by GPS is both witty and timely. Fun, festive twist on tradition. Holiday Blessings, Dear Bartholomew, Daniel

Thank you very much, Daniel! Your insightful comments tell me you got the exact point of my limerick, so I am very happy to know that. [By the way, we're both Karen Carpenter fans and are both young at heart! ;) ] Thanks again for your visit, and I hope to read some more of your excellent poetry again soon. Merry Christmas, blessings, and very best to you! :) Bartholomew
