River's Longing
The house exists near a river that rolls
The river moves quickly under the knolls
Around the bend that seems to flood often
The house has life that seems to happen
Working within the sections of delight
Fishing comes often and seems to be right
Having the roughness of life come to play
Opens the heart, masterful sight to lay
Catching the river as the bad approach
Time enlists a harness of this world’s coach
The house has to harden its boundaries
During times of painfully, wobbly knees
The house suffers with the river’s longing
To be one with the land and belonging
