Rip Tide

Before you I drifted at sea. Always afloat, Never anchored. So is the life a sailors' Or pirates' Wife. When the tide went out It left me behind, But you were there To sweep me Off my feet. The day you got caught In the undertow I too started To sink below, Cursed to ebb and flow Eternally as the tides. But anchored to you, I see It was merely a rip current, Anomalistic strong forces That if you swim against Only pull you farther. And if we swim alongside, We might make it back As one.
